We provide the following guidance for publishers on how we evaluate sites for inclusion on ABE.
The inclusion and removal of sites is a subjective choice made by our editors with the aim of creating a high quality and balanced editorial experience for our readers.
We may decline a site because we feel it is poorly written, because it isn’t materially different from sites that are already on ABE or because it doesn’t otherwise add value.
We reject applications from sites that cannot demonstrate consistently high quality content for at least the previous Three months. You are welcome to apply when you can do so.
First impressions are very important. If the first two or three articles that we read contain spelling, grammatical or punctuation mistakes, we are likely to decline the site. Likewise, we are likely to reject poorly designed websites too.
While it is not our policy to dictate to publishers what they can and cannot publish on their own websites, it is our concern what stories are published on ABE.
If a site publishes a mix of content that we do consider suitable for inclusion on our website and content that we don‘t, you must provide a category feed containing only the content suitable for inclusion on our website (as defined in our Editorial Standards) in your application.
You can also give us your category or page RSS URL so we’ll filter your article on its respective section e.g. if your website post is mix content like video, music, football, politics. You can give us RSS link to video, music, football and politics separately so we can filter it on our site sections
Sites with excessive advertising, or advertising that impinges on the reading of articles, may be declined.
We only accept applications from some certain websites (not every site) that are able to place our logo of our choice on the homepage of their site, above the fold (without the need to scroll) and in a prominent position.
These sites are additionally required to display the same logo on each article page adjacent to the headline or as close as possible to it, While some websites are only require to display our logo for few months.
By ‘above the fold’, we mean visible on a standard browser, monitor of 1024 x 768 resolution. Sites that display the logo and are subsequently found to have removed it will be instantly suspended from our website without notice.
If you haven’t already done so, please read our Publisher Network Terms and Conditions, Rules and Regulations (which incorporates our Editorial Standards, Issue Resolution procedure and our Technical Requirements).
